A complete hall bathroom renovation — replacing a dated tub/shower combo, vanity, and flooring with a modern tub/shower unit, floating vanity, and large-format floor tile in this busy family bathroom.
The hall bathroom served three kids and was showing every bit of it. The original fiberglass tub/shower insert had permanent staining, the single-sink vanity had swollen particleboard from years of water splashes, the vinyl floor was peeling, and the exhaust fan barely moved air. The homeowners wanted a durable, kid-proof bathroom that still looked stylish — one that could handle the daily abuse of a family of five without showing wear in two years.
We gutted the bathroom to studs and replaced everything. A new Kohler Bellwether cast iron tub was installed with a tile surround using large-format 12×24 porcelain — far more durable and cleanable than fiberglass. A wall-mounted floating vanity with a solid-surface top keeps the floor clear for easy mopping and eliminates the particleboard swelling issue. Porcelain floor tile with textured anti-slip finish replaced the vinyl. A Panasonic WhisperGreen exhaust fan with humidity sensor was installed to prevent moisture buildup automatically. All plumbing supply lines were replaced with PEX.
The bathroom has handled a full year of three kids using it daily and still looks brand new. The cast iron tub is virtually indestructible, the floating vanity makes floor cleaning effortless, and the humidity-sensing fan eliminates the steamy mirror problem they used to deal with after every shower. The homeowners say the space feels bigger because of the floating vanity and consistent large-format tile.

“Three kids have been using this bathroom for a year now and it still looks perfect. The floating vanity was genius — no more water damage underneath. And the fan turns itself on. We should have done this years ago.”
