The Challenge

The 2006 home had a mix of worn carpet in the bedrooms and hallways, sheet vinyl in the kitchen and bathrooms, and mismatched laminate in the living room. Pet damage had stained several carpet areas beyond cleaning, and the sheet vinyl was lifting at the seams near the dishwasher. The homeowners wanted a single, consistent floor throughout the entire main level and bedrooms that could handle kids, dogs, and Idaho's muddy seasons.

Our Solution

We removed all existing flooring down to the subfloor, repaired several soft spots in the plywood underlayment near the kitchen sink and dishwasher, and leveled the concrete transition at the garage entry. We installed COREtec Pro Plus Enhanced LVP throughout — a rigid-core plank with an attached cork backing for comfort and sound dampening. All transitions between rooms were handled with flush T-moldings, and new 5.25-inch MDF baseboards were installed throughout to replace the dated oak originals. Quarter-round was used at tile transitions in the laundry room.

The Result

The continuous flooring makes the entire home feel larger and more cohesive. The waterproof core has already survived a water heater leak without damage, and the cork backing makes it comfortable underfoot even in the winter. The homeowners say it was the single biggest visual improvement they have made to the home.
