Our Process — Iron Crest Remodel

Our Process

A clear, step-by-step approach to stress-free home remodeling — designed to keep your project on time, on budget, and built right.

How We Work

At Iron Crest Remodel, we believe great remodeling starts with a great process. From your first phone call to the final walkthrough, every step is designed to eliminate surprises and deliver results. Our proven six-step workflow has been refined over years of serving Boise-area homeowners.

We keep you informed at every stage with daily updates, weekly meetings, and a dedicated project manager who is always one phone call away. The result: a remodeling experience that is as smooth and predictable as the finished product is beautiful.

The 6-Step Process

STEP 01

Initial Consultation

Every project begins with a free, no-obligation consultation at your home. We listen to your goals, assess the space, discuss your budget range, and answer every question. This visit gives us the information we need to determine whether we are the right fit for your project — and gives you a chance to evaluate our team firsthand. Typical duration: 60 to 90 minutes.

STEP 02

Design & Planning

Our Design Director works with you to translate your vision into a detailed plan. We create layout drawings, select materials and finishes, and finalize the scope of work. For larger projects, we provide 3D renderings so you can visualize the finished result before any demolition begins. We coordinate with structural engineers and permitting authorities as needed during this phase.

STEP 03

Detailed Proposal

You receive a comprehensive, line-item proposal that covers every aspect of the project — labor, materials, permits, timelines, and payment schedule. There are no hidden fees and no vague allowances. We walk through the entire document with you so every cost is understood and agreed upon before we begin. Changes after approval follow a formal change-order process.

STEP 04

Pre-Construction

Before the first swing of a hammer, we handle all the logistics. Permits are pulled, materials are ordered and staged, crews are scheduled, and your home is prepared with protective coverings, dust containment barriers, and clearly marked work zones. We establish a communication plan — including your dedicated project manager's direct contact — so you know exactly what to expect on Day 1.

STEP 05

Construction

This is where precision meets execution. Our crews follow the approved plans to the letter, with your project manager on site daily to oversee quality, safety, and schedule adherence. You receive daily progress updates and photos, weekly status meetings, and immediate notification of any issues or decisions needed. We maintain a clean, safe worksite throughout — including daily cleanup at the end of every shift.

STEP 06

Final Walkthrough

When construction is complete, we conduct a detailed walkthrough with you to inspect every element of the finished project. We review a comprehensive punch list, address any items on the spot, and ensure every detail meets your expectations and our standards. You receive all warranty documentation, maintenance guides, and manufacturer registration information before we consider the project closed.

Typical Project Timeline

While every project is unique, here is a typical timeline for a mid-sized remodeling project. Your proposal will include a project-specific schedule with exact milestone dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the remodeling process take?

Most mid-sized remodeling projects in the Boise area take 8 to 14 weeks from initial consultation to final walkthrough. Larger projects such as whole-home renovations or ADU construction may extend to 16 to 24 weeks depending on scope, permitting timelines, and material lead times. Your detailed proposal includes a project-specific timeline with milestone dates.

What happens during the initial consultation?

During the free, no-obligation consultation, we visit your home to discuss your goals, assess the existing space, review your budget range, and answer all of your questions. This 60- to 90-minute visit gives us the information we need to determine if we are the right fit for your project and allows you to evaluate our team firsthand.

Do I need to move out during construction?

For most projects, you can remain in your home. We install professional dust barriers, maintain daily cleanup, and isolate work zones from your living spaces. For large-scale whole-home renovations or projects that affect kitchens and bathrooms simultaneously, we may recommend temporary relocation for a portion of the construction phase for your comfort and safety.

How do you handle unexpected issues during construction?

Unexpected conditions — such as hidden water damage, outdated wiring, or structural concerns — are documented immediately and communicated to you the same day. We provide a written change order detailing the issue, the recommended fix, and the cost and timeline impact before any additional work proceeds. There are no surprises or verbal agreements.

What is included in the detailed proposal?

Your proposal is a comprehensive, line-item document covering labor, materials, permits, project timeline, payment schedule, and warranty terms. Every cost is itemized — no vague allowances or hidden fees. We walk through the entire document with you before any work begins so every detail is understood and agreed upon.
